Engineered Hardwood 101

Engineered hardwood is become more and more popular throughout homes. While it has the hardwood floor look, it is a man-made product with multiple perpendicular layers for durability and structural integrity.  The multiple layers also help minimize the shrinking and expanding of the wood.  The top layer consists of real hardwood and comes in a variety of species.  If you can find a product with a thicker top layer, you could have the floor sanded and refinished later on.
